Loire à vélo

Our local lake Situated in the Camping Village at Fontaine Guérin and within walking distance of the gîte. Access to the lake is free; there is a small beach and the swimming area is marked off. Lifeguard in attendance during July and August. Picnic benches, shady trees and restaurant.

Fishing in the lake requires a permit - buy at the Mairie in Fontaine Guérin. A permit is required to fish in the local rivers; permits (10 euros per day) can be purchased at Bricomarche or the Cafe des Sports (PMU) in Beaufort-en-Vallée. Buy online: http://en.cartedepeche.fr

Parcours Aventure 49 New adventure park in Brion set in 5ha wooded park with lake. Five courses up in the trees, also paintball & Airsoft. Mountain bike rental, pedalos and Solex bicycles. Workshops for young people. Bar with terrace on the edge of the lake.

Park open every weekend, school holidays and fete days. Ten minute drive to Brion from La Jaclotière.

Les Mystère des Faluns A trogolodyte dwelling and quarry site. A wonderful walk through a series of galleries with a sound and light show. Shady picnic area. Well worth a visit.

Château de Montgeoffroy Château from the XVIIIth century fully furnished with it’s original furniture. Open every day from late March until the end of October. Home of the de Contades family for over 300 years.

Maurice Dufresne Museum

An incredible collection of vehicles, machinery and antiques. Including a mobile guillotine (1794), an aeroplane that featured in a Louis de Funès film and a North African crossbow with it's original poisoned arrows. Resturant on site. A small stables in Fontaine Guerin with Shetland ponies. Ideal for young children - meet the ponies and go for rides in the forest in a small trap (calèche). Reservation essential. Only ten minutes away.
