La Jaclotière is ideally situated for visiting some of the most popular tourist attractions around Saumur and Angers. Visit the historic chateaux, sample the wines of Anjou, play golf at Baugé (one of the top ten courses in France) or just wander the quiet lanes.

The cafe/shop in St Georges du Bois has recently reopened (28th July 2021) after several years of closure. Bar with light meals available. Bread and groceries in the shop.

Le Cadre Noir de Saumur
(The Ecole Nationale d’Equitation)
Saumur – the Ecole Nationale d’Equitation is the premier riding school in France and the Cadre Noir is the teaching body of instructors. Open to the public with guided visits and riding displays. Thirty minutes drive from La Jaclotière. Website
l’Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud Saumur – Abbey of Fontevraud. Burial place of Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lionheart. Thirty minutes drive from La Jaclotière. Website
Le Mans 24-hour Race Located just south of Le Mans the 24-hour race is unique in the motor sport calendar. One hour drive from La Jaclotière. Website
Golf in Baugé The golf course at Baugé is rated as one of the top ten courses in France. Only 20 minutes from La Jaclotière. Website
Baugé Château The hunting lodge of King René – originally a fortress contstructed by Foulques Nerra. Twenty minutes from La Jaclotière. Website
Château de Montgeoffroy

Château from the XVIIIth century fully furnished with it’s original furniture. Open every day from late March until the end of October. Home of the de Contades family for over 300 years.

Terra Botanica With 110 000 m² of gardens, aquatic spaces, glasshouses and buildings, interspersed with 40 attractions and activities, TERRA BOTANICA is the first theme park in Europe devoted to plant life. Fun and educational, the park invites young and old alike to experience an extraordinary adventure at the heart of the Anjou region.
The park is situated to the north of Angers, in the N°16 exit of the A11 between Paris and Nantes, direction Cantenay Epinard.
Cabaret Orstella Located in Fontaine Guerin a cabaret featuring horses, dance, singing, high-wire acrobatics and comedy. See just the show or enjoy dinner with the show.

Château du Fresne Recommended by ourselves…
Anjou rouge, rosé, blanc, Coteaux du Layon & Crémant de Loire. Bottle, vinibib (bag-in-a-box) or bring your own barrel.
Located in the village of Faye D'Anjou, near Brissac. The château in Brissac is also worth a visit. Forty-five minutes drive. Website

Twenty minutes drive to Lué en Baugeois.
Grapes from the vines at La Jaclotière were sent to the Domaine de la Tuffière until the mid-1990's. Website
Les Caves de la Loire Anjou rouge, Anjou rosé, blanc, Coteaux du Layon & Crémant de Loire. Saumur champigny, Sancerre, Muscadet sur Lie, Touraine, Chinon & Pouilly Fume. Coteaux du Layon, Coteaux de l'aubance, Bonnezeaux, & Quart de Chaume. All wines are available for tasting. Modern caveaux with excellent English spoken.

Rent an electric bicycle at the caveaux and tour the local vineyards – map supplied.
Thirty minutes drive to Brissac – the cave is close to the château which is well worth a visit.
